Believing is Power

The eWORD – Believing is Power

3 July 2011 @ S T C / Galilee

Dr Stanley L Scott

Introduction: Your BELIEF SYSTEM is at the heart of all of you life. Where you were, where you are and where you will be! Your BELIEF SYSTEM is the POWER source for everything ahead of you!

Today’s goal is to challenge you to refresh your attitude about your BELIEF SYSTEM!

I want to encourage you to tap into, harness, get a handle on the POWER that is in your BELIEF SYSTEM and use it to make your life better!

The Word of God is filled with references to Believe, believing, belief. Those places can provide strength for our times of MEDITATION.

Definition: Webster’s1828 Dictionary Definition

BELIE’VE, v.t. To credit upon the authority or testimony of another; to be persuaded of the truth of something upon the declaration of another, or upon evidence furnished by reasons, arguments, and deductions of the mind, or by other circumstances, than personal knowledge. When we believe upon the authority of another, we always put confidence in his veracity.

When we believe upon the authority of reasoning, arguments, or a concurrence of facts and circumstances, we rest our conclusions upon their strength or probability, their agreement with our own experience, &c.

    2. To expect or hope with confidence; to trust.

    I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Ps.27.

    BELIE’VE, v.i. To have a firm persuasion of any thing. In some cases, to have full persuasion, approaching to certainty; in others, more doubt is implied. It is often followed by in or on, especially in the scriptures. To believe in, is to hold as the object of faith. “Ye believe in God, believe also in me.” John 14. To believe on, is to trust, to place full confidence in, to rest upon with faith.

Main Text: Romans 10:8-10

8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

We believe that we are saved without “normal proof”. We receive and rest in salvation because we DECIDE to believe.

Teaching point: Everything in the promises from God to us can be received and manifested in the same way! We DECIDE to believe.

Action point: When you believe, then it is required that you confess and say with your mouth what you believe. SAY it until YOU believe it in YOUR heart.

Determination point: Everyday make some kind of action, movement, effort, that reflects what you BELIEVE. “Do Something”!!!

Support Text:  Mark 9:24

And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

(KJV)

If and only if after YOU have done ALL that you can do…God is still there to keep you connected and expecting and believing.

TRUST HIM!!!

Acts 3:2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

 1Timothy 2:7 Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity. Ro 9:1; 11:13; 15:16; Ga 1:16; Eph 3:7-8; 2Ti 1:11

Support Text:

Ephesians 4:10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

 11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

 14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

 15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

 16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

Living Salvation (Notes Only)

Hello,

The eWORD – Living Salvation

12 June 2011 @ STC

Dr Stanley L Scott

Introduction:

Act – Like it is so

Walk – Like it is so

Talk – Like it is so

Live – Like it is so

Believe – Like it is so

Give God, Praise and Thanks!!!

Main Text: Hebrews 2:1-4

1 ¶ Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;

3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?

Support Text:

1Ch 16:35 (7-36) And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise.

2Th 2:13-14 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: 14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Consider from the Main Text (Hebrews 2:1-4):

– the more earnest heed

– the word spoken by angels was stedfast

– so great salvation

– God also bearing them witness….Can God witness to your confirmation of what you have heard?

The big A C T I O N key to confirmation is to give THANKS and PRAISE!!! (Psalm 105:1-15)

Meditate and put into ACTION 1Chronicles 16:7-36:

– give thanks unto the LORD

– call upon his name

– make know his deeds

– sing unto him

– sing psalms unto him

– talk ye of all his wondrous works

– glory

– rejoice

– seek

– remember………

God Bless,
