Introduction:

Old Testament bible stories are really strong demonstrations of God’s great power!

However, they are also filled with hard actions of very bad human behavior and the worst of human relationship failures.

Yet, in spite of all of that, you can find profound examples and principles of victory through God’s help.

Definition: Webster’s 1828 Dictionary Definition

ABLE, a. a’bl. [L. habitis]

1. Having physical power sufficient; having competent power or strength, bodily or mental;

2. Having strong or unusual powers of mind, or intellectual qualifications;

Webster’s 1913 Edition Dictionary Definition

Having sufficient power, strength, force, skill, means, or resources of any kind to accomplish the object;

In the story for this lesson, this king had some victories, but in the end lost his life because overall his heart was not completely set to follow God and he also rejected the advice of the man that God sent to him.

Main Text:

2 Chronicles 25:2 – And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, but not with a perfect heart.

2 Chronicles 25:9 – And Amaziah said to the man of God, but what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel? And the man of God answered, The LORD is able to give thee much more than this.

(Proverbs 10:22 – The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.)

We can look at this Old Testament story and consider the truth that was put forth from the man of god and find insight in the New Testament that can help us make determination to connect with God’s desire for us!

Support Text:

2 Corinthians 9:8 – And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

Ephesians 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

Teaching Point: Human nature must always be controlled! We must submit to God’s power working in us, so that we can connect with and allow His power to help us accomplish the object!

Action Point: Study bible stories and find truth from the lessons that you can apply to help you develop confidence in God ability to work through you to make your life better!

Determination Point: Make up your mind, make the decision, set your heart to recover…win and stop losing… get on the blessing side of life!

CAN YOU DO THIS? Your answer should be YES!!! WHY…Because GOD IS ABLE!!!

God Bless,

The Rev Dr
